Mission Statement
"The Myaamia Heritage Review Committee aims to protect the sovereign Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and all Tribal citizens from the harmful impact of misinformation by providing feedback on content to organizations or individuals publishing or disseminating historical or cultural information about the Miami Tribe."
A Committee of nine appointed individuals, consisting of tribal citizens, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma employees, educators, and scholars has been made available via the creation of the Myaamia Heritage Review Committee (MHRC).
The primary focus of the Committee is to review and provide feedback for all publications and other disseminations of submissions from Tribal and non-Tribal individuals/entities/organizations who will be required to submit their publications and/or media containing information about the Miami Tribe and its history, culture, language, or citizens, to pass review and ultimately receive any form of official comment, and/or approval of the Tribe prior to publication.
The secondary focus of the Committee is the review of existing publications, and/or media of any kind, containing information on the history, culture, and language of the Miami Tribe and providing to the Myaamia Community through the Nation’s news publications, website, community blog, social media accounts, or community gatherings, informative review/comment on the accuracy of such published content for the purpose of protecting the sovereign Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, and all Tribal Citizens, from the negative and/or harmful impact of publications containing misinformation.

Any published materials without a completed review will not be considered supported by the MTO MHRC or by the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. Until the review process is complete, no submitted materials are considered reviewed with the voice of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, and any and all recognitions and acknowledgments in disseminated materials are considered invalid.
