Join us for Aatotantaawi ‘Let’s Talk About It!’ Virtual Events!

What is Aatotantaawi?

Aatotanaawi! ‘Let’s Talk About It!’ is an online discussion group that meets once a month to talk about topics of interest. We welcome any member of the Myaamia community who is 17 or older to join us!

We began gathering on Zoom in the summer of 2020 as a way to spend time with our relatives when we were unable to meet in-person. Now, Aatotantaawi allows Myaamiaki to gather throughout the year without worrying about travel costs.

What do you discuss?

Each month, we pick a new topic based on what the community is interested in discussing. Since the group began in 2020, we have discussed books, movies, television series, and podcasts that are created by or are about Indigenous peoples. Some community favorites were the television series Reservation Dogs, the This Land podcast, and the novel There There by Tommy Orange. We have also discussed Myaamia-specific topics such as Aalhsoohkaana ‘Winter Stories,’ Removal, and games.

While we often pick media to discuss, all are welcome to join even if they haven’t watched/read/listened to it!
